I've added a setting to hide the background profile image, which several social networks are already not using anymore. This way the space taken by the profile hero is much less and the user can go straight to activities and more relevant data.
Profile tabs recently included also "network" (followers/following) and "about" (bio, etc). I think this is a UX issue. Tabs need to be more contexted, in the sense that the user should switch tabs according to a clear logic (the types of data shown). I would rather put About and Network info in the Hero profile for this reason (also because the hero component is specifically designed to show that type of data) and it is a solid and robust UI design patter that users are well used to interact with - we may figure out a way to avoid resulting with the hero profile component taking too much vertical space, especially when the user includes a heavy bio or lot of links / data but i think that's a separate issue.
