Loading state: failed #40

Certain audiobooks are failing to download. For example:

A book which I was able to download properly two months ago is now failing inevitably specifically on chapter 8:

If I deselect "Parse Chapters," it can download the book, except for chapter 8. I wasable to download this book without problems two months ago. Another book, In Cold Blood, fails from the start.

Thank you for this tool!!! Do you have any insight on this problem?

I am having this exact problem too. I hope the developer will be able to address it.

Would it be possible for either of you to include the logs? Either taking a screenshot or copying the text of the logs will hopefully give me something to work with.

@bookbonobo image I had the same issue - here's a screenshot of the log when it happened

Could you try with the attached dev build and post the logs again? This will (hopefully) be quite a bit more chatty so copy pasting will probably be easier. You can select all by highlighting part of any log and hitting control/command a.

First, the idea of this extension is fabulous and I have downloaded several books successfully. I like using the "parse" option because my reader (Sirin) is able to distinguish chapters. So, my problem is, I would like very much to help you solve this issue but I have never done anything like what you are requesting, however I tried. I think the extension was picking up the .zip file as the temporary extension because Firefox indicated this (but I'm still not sure):

@pmorgan111 I think your logs come from Libby itself, but bookbonobo is looking for the logs generated specifically by their extension. To get these logs, you have to open the dev tools console not on the libby page, but from the extension's page, which you can get to by clicking on "inspect" from here: image

and then it'll pull up a new window where it will post the logs once you try downloading a book.

@thomasxwright Thank you for trying to help me. I clicked on the Inspect button in the box of the Temporary Extension but nothing appeared in the Console of the Debug Panel. However, the log was posted to the Inspect panel of the Installed extension. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Thank you for any help you can provide. I really would like to provide the developer with good information, so your help is greatly appreciated.

yes, there are two places where logs are being posted -- one place is on the libby tab of your browser, but i think those aren't the logs bookbonobo wants.

the other place is in the console you get when you click the "inspect" button i showed in the screenshot. this starts out empty but when you try downloading an audiobook by running the extension, this console is filled with logs generated by the extension. these are the logs I think bookbonobo wants.

Here is what I think may be another problem. When I download this book without using parse mode this is what I see. Notice there is a gap between Part10 and Part16. I'm wondering if the "parts" should be consecutive.

Here's another dev build to try. @JTimNolan I was able to test it on Wheel of Time and it finished successfully. @thomasxwright and @pmorgan111 I think it may fix your issues as well, but if not it'll give me more logs at least.

Here's another dev build to try. @JTimNolan I was able to test it on Wheel of Time and it finished successfully. @thomasxwright and @pmorgan111 I think it may fix your issues as well, but if not it'll give me more logs at least.

Here's yet another dev build. @pmorgan111 I was able to download your book successfully with this build, and I believe the issue was the same that you're running into @thomasxwright. Unfortunately there's a good bit of variation in the way these books look in the json responses so there's some trial and error involved.

I am sorry to say I am still getting the same error when downloading the book and try to parse the chapters. When I do not parse the chapters there is still a gap between part10 and part16, so I cannot be sure the book was downloaded properly. Here is the log when I get the error. I hope this helps. Are you sure you're running with the right extension? You will see two icons after you've installed the temporary one and they're easy to mix up.

Yes, it's now working perfectly for my book, both a parced download and unparced downlown. My apologies for my lack of knowledge but this is all new to me. I have never operated in Firefox and I incorrectly assumed Firefox would automatically use the temporary extension without operator intervention. Thank you so much for your great work. I have been using Chrome as my browser. Perhaps you can develop this extension for Chrome?

That's ashame! I've read good things about Firefox and will have to think about converting to it. Meanwhile it will be no problem for me to just use Firefox for your extension.
