It is awesome to see all the comments and discussions already bubbling here. Some time ago I did some testing of HipChat which possibly could be used in this project to keep the pulse etc. The good thing is that HipChat is platform independent and persistant chat-rooms. The bad thing is that it is only free for groups of 5 or less after that each user pays the astonishing amount of $2/month and can then be part of many rooms and all images/files etc. shared in the chat-rooms are freely stored in Amazon S3 as far as I know.

I dont know what you guys/gals(in the future?) think about this, do we need more realtime chat or is this media ok for us?

Comments?

uhh ohh ... a link to "our" HipChat: https://www.hipchat.com/invite/81824/4bebf72605f13be0dcf51fa1006f8050

I think we should continue to keep as much as possible in github. The goal of the project is to have a global team, so chatting will probably be more common within the same time zones? If its necessary we can take the cost for HipChat, so thats not an issue. So let this evolve "organically", we try to use issues as far as possible and when the need for chat arises we try HipChat.

Is ICQ or Skype (you can chat there?) alternatives? Does google have anything?

As far as I am involved: skype does it for me. Otherwise agreeing with Joakim, time zones could raise questions but on the other hand it sets boundaries for the number of participants at the same time. So happy for working together with you guys! :)
