Student list sidebar - functionality

Requirements

This is only visible if the logged in user is a student.

• As a student visiting the home page I should see my cohort's members in the sidebar
• The cohorts student list sidebar should present:
• the cohort's name (for the logged in student)
• the list of students in that cohort
• Each student in the list of students should present:
• the initials of the student
• the full name, which should be clickable and take me to that student's profile page

UI Approach

Code Structure

• There will be a StudentList component and a StudentListItem which will live in the components of a sidebar folder

• the list will be conditionally rendered if the user is a student
• using utils/client.js to send the GET request to {{ _.base_url }}/users
• filter the list twice: 1) eliminate teachers; 2) eliminate students that are not part of the same cohort as the logged in user
• map the cohort which the student is in and present the required info
• the name will be a link that takes the user to the student's profile page

Not sure – this issue is intended for this piece:

fetch the list of students using a GET request to {{ _.base_url }}/users?firstName=example just to confirm you'll be using:

• utils/client.js to send the GET request
• you don't need to pass ?firstName= bit, in order to get all the users
• make sure it is clear that you'll have to filter this list twice: 1) eliminate teachers; 2) eliminate students that are not part of the same cohort as the logged in user

That's great, thanks Luciano! Nothing against you, we simply haven't gotten to doing it yet -- we're a bit low on bandwidth right now as 2 of our team members have been away. I think once Abul is back this will be perfect for him.
