Smooth scroll (dipity.com type) for simile-timeline. #314

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Try holding the mouse, and then drap it to the left/right
2. Is it possible that the timeline scrolls smoothly on the above actoin ?

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The timeline scrolls, but not smoothly.

What version of the product are you using? On what browser and what
operating system?
I am not using the simile timeline yet, but shall start building my 
discussion website after smooth-scroll is incorporated.

Please provide any additional information below.

There is a websitel www.dipity.com . That websites also display timelines.
I am very impressed by simile-timeline's features. But when it comes to 
smooth-scroll and zoom , Dipity wins. I wanted the simile-timeline to have 
the similar functionalty.
