Speak button not working? #8

hi, how come when I click on the Speak button, it does not talk? the button flickers (I think it says running or a fraction of a second). see video. thanks

oops, I realized I did not setup the backend. works now using Chrome browser. but if use Safari, after clicking the Speak button, it changes to running.... but is stuck
