Improves the UX for multi-word searches in the UniversalViewer book reader interface.

This is essentially a local implementation of the approach described in https://github.com/boston-library/blacklight_iiif_search/issues/6.

We push ahead here for the sake of rapidly improving UX ahead of promotion of the recently-ingested Anti-Slavery Manuscript transcription data.
