We need to be able to monitor the health and status of our vSphere and ESX servers.

A good starting point is the vSphere API

The vSphere API is too large for me to reasonably understand what we need from it. I need an example script that does something specific we need, and I can work on implementing that in scollector.

Done except for network stats. I crawled over many documents and couldn't find where the network stats were, so I'm closing this.
