Anti-aliasing needs improvement #748

It would greatly enhance the appearance of the GE plugin when used as a flight
simulator if the anti-aliasing could be improved.

Thanks.

Can you be more specific? Is there something in the Google Earth desktop client
that you'd like to see in the plugin?

As can be seen in this screen capture from a flight simulator there does not
appear to be any anti-alaising present. It is most visible in the hard edges of
the buildings and horizon. This is especially bothersome when the scene is in
motion.

I don't know if this is a function of the graphics card or the GE plugin but it
is quite noticeable. I have seen the same problem on both Macs and PCs with
fairly recent graphics hardware.

A simple search revealed that this is an old issue - although in those cases
the concern was more about ant-ialaising of linestings not the terrain or
buildings. The general opinion is that the GE Plugin does not enable
anti-aliasing by default. I say opinion because I can't find official
acknowledgement. I do know that anti-aliasing of linestrings was much improved
somewhere along the line. Some folks claim to have had luck enabling
anti-aliasing via the NVIDIA control panel (under Windows) but I was unable to
reproduce that workaround.

bcke... can you shed a little light?
