Hi @statmatt, thanks for reaching out. I was not able to reproduce this issue; I was able to create clients for both neptunedata
and neptune-graph
without any issue. I suspect this is an issue related to versions. The version of Boto3 used by Lambda as a default is not up-to-date, and is a likely cause of this issue. You can verify this by looking at the debug logs of an operation using boto3.set_stream_logger('')
. You'll need to add a more recent version of Boto3 as a Lambda layer if that is indeed the issue. Hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions.
Why wouldn't the lambda image be using the most up-to-date version of the boto3 library? That seems to be an odd choice. Can we pip3 install --upgrade boto3
rather than using a lambda layer, because we are using container images for Lambda, and having to mess around with layers is a complication I'd like to avoid ...
Lambda pins default versions of all the SDKs to avoid breaking customers in the event the SDK has a major bug. I don't think you can directly upgrade the version of Boto3 provided by Lambda, but there are other ways. I'd recommend checking out this documentation about working with Python dependencies in Lambda.
Greetings! It looks like this issue hasn’t been active in longer than five days. We encourage you to check if this is still an issue in the latest release. In the absence of more information, we will be closing this issue soon. If you find that this is still a problem, please feel free to provide a comment or upvote with a reaction on the initial post to prevent automatic closure. If the issue is already closed, please feel free to open a new one.
Describe the bug
Attempting to create boto3 client for
neptunedata
fails. The current version 1.34.30 documentation found at https://boto3.amazonaws.com/v1/documentation/api/latest/index.html delineatesneptunegraph
andneptunedata
both as constituent services.Expected Behavior
client = boto3.client('neptunedata')
should successfully return a client, as documented in https://boto3.amazonaws.com/v1/documentation/api/latest/index.html, which allows for query actions against AWS NeptuneCurrent Behavior
The following error is returned:
