[Report] dotnet35 and dotnet35sp1 fail to install

Which dependency? dotnet35, dotnet35sp1

Problem type Either of them fail to install. They both get the same error message:

I checked it, the file does exist.

Describe the problem The installer seems to extract the required files succesfully, but then fails to open vs_setup.ms_.

Manually downloading and executing dotnetfx35.exe leads to the same issue.

Steps to Reproduce

• Create new Bottle with Applications Preset (doesn´t matter actually, couldn´t get it to install with any bottle or runner)
• install dependency through bottles UI

I can confirm the same happens on my end, impossible to install .NET 3.5 or 3.5 SP1 via the dependency manager or manually through the installer .exe. The installation starts, but just stops midway with a generic Error message and no way to check the logs.

Have the same problem and the dependency manager shows It's installed after the error.

I'm still having this issue

Adding to the list, also having this issue. I will also add it's happening on both the flatpack AND RPM version of bottles. (Fedora workstation 41)

Also tried setting the OS to XP, same error
