Getting the same thing here, linux mint 21.1
For me the problem was fixed after last update of lib32-nvidia-utils 535.54.03-1 on arch repo
I also had problems with launching steam on latest nvidia driver and again it was fixed after lib32-nvidia-utils update
Issue is that I have a full AMD setup
crashing in steamdeck too, yes that means full AMD setup too..
I want to say that due to other circumstances I had to change to NixOS from Fedora, the problem is still present exactly the same way as before.
If anyone in the dev team requires me to I will happily provide new logs on this distro.
This problem appear randomly. I think it's up to Battle.net developers since every time an update fix it. The temporary solutions I was using should not matter here but still mentioning:
drive_c/ProgramData/Battle.Net
folder, try again
- switch to Wine-GE, update, then return to Soda I'm experiencing the same issue with Wine-ge 7 & 8. Which version did you use @mirkobrombin
I have tested this on my hardware configuration too and I can't seem to reproduce the fix successfully... unfortunately.
7.4 if I remember correctly
I tried it but it didn't work... I wonder if it is related somehow with this other issue I had at upstream.
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/6859#issue-1762053811
Version 7.0 was the only one that worked. If that is the case, do you mind telling me if you had previously installed Battle.Net when the current version of Soda was 7.x and then just updated overtime? Because I believe if you do like me that you directly jump in with something based on proton 8 (or backported patches) it might fail creating some internal symlinks.
@Plarpoon Can you screenshot your exact error? I was having a problem with connecting to the Blizzard servers.
I resolved this manually using wine through the console to launch Battle.net and launching the UserAgent as well. Am now able to play Battle.net games on Linux, sadly without bottles.
It's working here now using latest Soda. I think it's somewhat related to their servers.
I was able to resolve this by running flatpak update
which pulled down the newer nvidia drivers (similar to this report https://github.com/bottlesdevs/programs/issues/241#issuecomment-1593738562).
I have updated nvidia drivers via Flatpak and the issue still persists for me.
$ flatpak list |grep nvidia
nvidia-535-54-03 org.freedesktop.Platform.GL.nvidia-535-54-03 1.4 system
nvidia-535-54-03 org.freedesktop.Platform.GL32.nvidia-535-54-03 1.4 system
$ flatpak list |grep bottles
Bottles com.usebottles.bottles 51.6 stable system
Regardless, at least two of us here have a full AMD setup, myself included. So it cannot be an issue of nVidia drivers alone.
I have done a full format, updated everything from scratch and switched over to OpenSUSE now, (Bottles is still the flatpak one). First login of the Battle.net and this error is still there. Exactly the same as if I had never formatted to begin with.... So I am going to exclude some sort of caching issue or bad updated.
This is an actual issue that has to be solved before the old Battle.net client is forbidden to connect to the Blizzard servers.

I don't know how I had missed this message, here is it mate!
I checked this earlier cos it was not updating for me either, but I tried with the the Wine GE 8-11 and it worked fine and updated and restarted.

I have just followed the same procedure you described, nothing happens, it's still not updating... This was the same issue since day one I reported the issue, some people didn't have it, some people did... Is there some way to log it more accurately so someone can help me?
I can't even install Battle.net at the moment because the installer gives this error
I am still having the same issues updating the app as-well, my best guess is that this application compatibility is not being worked upon for now and that's why it's breaking so much
Okay, I got it to work.
1) Update flatpak (flatpak update
)
2) Create bottle (I choose gaming)
3) Change to sys-wine-8-0.2
4) Download Battlenet.exe
5) Browse for the download and install it
6) It works (for me at least)
7) Change to whatever wine version is required by your game.

Can confirm this worked every single time for me too, I have tried this with different distros and with all of them it was successful. I think we can officially declare this is a soda bug.
Thanks for having reported your finding! Helped me out a lot too!
Can also confirm that this works under Ubuntu 22.04 with nvidia drivers 535.104.05. It only worked by downloading Battle.net manually and not via the provided bottles program list, however.
Doesn't seem to work for me no matter what I try
If I run the Battle.net installation offered in the Applications list on Steam Deck, I get the "problems getting patch information" screen and then it crashes on launch. Downloading the installer manually from Battle.net site works however.
I got it to launch with "wine-ge-proton8-12" runner on my AMD system (radeon/ryzen). Otherwise it would either crash or hang before allowing me to log in.

I tried this and it worked exactly once to install, but then never again. I think this briefly worked but no longer does. This definitely does not deserve "Gold" compatibility status.
Describe the bug
Pressing the update button on Battle.net located in the top left corner the app crashes and once it comes back it's still the old version, which after couple of seconds will ask me again to update (and that will fail again, and so on).
To Reproduce
Package
Flatpak from Flathub

Additional context
Notes: I have terminated the process manually, despite the app crashing it would have kept on running forever in the background, but not working.
