I'm also just having issues doing a fresh install of Battle.net since I had to nuke'n'pave my PC.
Does seem that there is a patch coming out for Battle.net soon.
Also, it seems that using Proton-6.21-GE-2 or anything pre-GE Wine change works. Latest Proton or GE variant wouldn't work. I'm not sure why, something about a missing mpeg2 vcodec
Latest Proton-GE (GE-Proton now) are a little bit different from previous ones. Btw I've tested blizzard again using Caffe 7.2 (which is the one we use for testing installers) and it works as expected.
I'll try again, and report back. Then this could be closed if it works for me as well. I've had spotty luck with "..worked for me..." stuff.
I got an error with the installer again. Is there an update that has been pushed out since I last opened this issue?
Latest is 2022.3.14-3. Can you post the output?
Well, it seems that the 3rd time is the charm. The first two times I got an error, but I was typing and the error window took focus and I hit space bar in the middle of me typing. So it closed the window before I could get a screenshot.
Granted, the Battle.net installer for Bottles worked, but the Battle.net installer itself, was what kept failing.
Now running Battle.net using Caffe 7.2, it's super slow, and when I finally get logged in, I'm in a "queue" because of over loaded servers, however, when i launch in Proton-6.21, I am able to get right in. So, that is probably not a Bottles thing, but more of a WINE/Proton thing.
The details
Can you try removing the templates folder and restart Bottles and try again making a new bottle? ~/.var/app/com.usebottles.bottles/data/bottles/templates
The install this time did perceptively go faster this time after removing the contents of that directory.I see the tray icon now, but it is not showing the login window. This is the terminal output.
Which as I'm typing this, the login window finally appeared. Then this new line at the bottom of the log
When I reverted to Proton-6.21-GE-2 or an earlier version of 7, this worked fairly quicly and fast. I'll try the login soon.
This is the window I get with using Caffe 7.2
but with Proton-6.21-GE-2, I get this immediately
Mmh could it have been a maintenance? I'm using the client with Caffe and don't notice the bug, it should be related to something else
It happens each time I use it on Caffe 7.2 or even Lutris 7.2 runner or Proton-7.8-GE
I'll try again o a clean installation asap
I should've mentioned this, I did a clean install of Fedora 35 Kinoite middle of last week and installed Bottles from Flathub (stable) as a User.
Hello, explorer! Fancy a cup of tea?
I was unable to install Battle.net successfully due to issues with Update Agent, but creating a new bottle with Proton-6.21-GE-2 fixed the issue.
Making Proton-6.21-GE-2 default for the battle.net installer would be a nice temporary fix for the issue but it seems to conflict with how this program operates.
Thank you.
EDIT with more information: I am running Bottles on Flatpak on Fedora Silverblue 36. Update Agent gets stuck at roughly 50~60% with default Gaming settings.

I don't think that the Bottles team would be able to "fix" WINE or Battle.net launcher. The most they would be able to do is modify the Installer script to tweak that. I think if we want it fixed, it would be at the behest of the Blizzard team or WINE developers.
Our Caffe runner is tkg, so maybe they have a patch for it

What does tkg
mean?
Just wanted to add that after a nuke and pave the installation fails for me too on Caffe 7.8, though falling back to Caffe 7.7 works just fine.
Interesting

Thanks, ge worked for me. With the default (cafe 7.7) I get
0330:err:sync:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 00C934AC "?" wait timed out in thread 0330, blocked by 027c, retrying (60 sec)
Ok so I got battle.net and then hearthstone but everytime I click play I get a brief blackscreen then it closes, battle.net says hearthstone has an update I click update stays at 0% for 2-3 mins then it says play, when I click play the same thing happens again and again
I was trying to play Hearthstone, run into a lot of issues. I finally made it, this thread helped too. Here's the guide I made https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/vb2smd/the_ultimate_guide_of_getting_hearthstone_to_work/
Blizzard Battle.net launcher unable or install from Installers
Description
I wanted to try out the Battle.net Installer provided with Bottles. However, it took a long while to not actually install, and then not launch again. I tried to run it once previously, got the same result. I can however, download and install Battle.net Launcher manually with the defaults included in a bottle setup.
