We have decided to utilize time spent on our app both from our younger and older users. For this reason, we are adding "Question of the day" to prevent a lot of time spent on searching for a fun question when somebody just wants to read and learn something interesting, together with a small survey after signing up to specify the user's favorite topics/languages/interests.
