when I understand the search correctly, then you can only filter for pre-defined languages.
When I type "java" into the language filter and press search, the result is not filtered and the URL is "https://www.bountysource.com/?languages=" but when I enter JavaScript or select it from the auto-completion it works.
Please add "Java" to the auto-completion. It is a widely used language and you have some projects using it in your list.
It's very strange. In available languages also there are not many popular languages like python, golang, rust, ruby, php and many overs. I found only C++ and Objective-C++ from list of most popular languages.
