I can get a console on http://localhost:3602/cgi-bin/cyccgi/cg?cb-start, but I can't seem to do much as a guest. How do I create an account. Also, have you found the documentation? Thanks for sharing. M

I suggest you login as CycAdministrator. Please let me know how I can improve my instructions.

For documentation, you could try https://web.archive.org/web/20160122174355/http://www.opencyc.org/doc/ but it's a bit ropey.

Thanks. Is there a tutorial. It's a very cryptic system. I can't get it to do anything interesting. The documentation is really no help either. I'm beginning to think Pedro was right.

bovlb commented 3 years ago

Um, yes it is a bit hard to get into. There was a lot of documentation written back in the day, but a much of it is no longer (publicly) available. Did you find the "Getting Started" section in the link I gave above (under Resources / Documentation)? I'm afraid my offering is really aimed at people already familiar with the system. Who is Pedro?

MikeyBeez commented 3 years ago

I found it, and it was a little bit helpful. Pedro Domingo is a well known Professor who teaches AI. BTW, if you ever run across a tutorial, that's what I'd need to look around the system. I really have no idea how to use this. Cheers, M

I consulted, but didn't come up with anything better than the archive linked above. Did you find the "Ontologist's Handbook"?

MikeyBeez commented 3 years ago

No. I haven't found it. A google search for opencog ontologist's handbook comes up with this which may be helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTLhPEcaHLs

The Ontologist's Handbook can be found by poking around in the documentation from the link I gave above. (Unfortunately, it's awkward to generate links from exploring in archive.org.)

Thank you. I'm also having some success with the link for opencog that comes with the above mentioned video. It's the only thing of Ben's that's ever worked for me. ;)
