Great program! Wondering if how I might be able to add a font? #23

I know this is not necessarily an issue but was wondering if you could help at all.

I just printed my first test piece, blown away by how simple everything is. Thank you! I made my handwriting into a font using https://www.calligraphr.com/en/ for a project and was wondering if there is a way to import this into the program. I see the font files in \3DWriter-master\3DWriter-master\3DWriter\bin\Release\fonts. The file that calligraphr spits out is a .ttf file. Is there a way to integrate that into the program or is this crazy talk? Please be easy on me, the extend of my programming knowledge is from one class in Java 10 years ago and some windows powershell :).

Thank you, stay safe! Jared

Hi Jared, thanks for the kind words :) It's a question that comes up all the time, simple answer is no it can't be done in 3DWriter. TTF fonts are hollow outlines, 3DWriter uses a series of strokes just like you do when handwriting normally. I made 3DWriter as a quick and easy way to write cards, there is a more complex way to do this using Inkscape if you are up for it. Using the Inkscape method you can use TTF fonts, graphics/images etc.

Shoot!  I will have to look into the inkscape method.  Thank you so much for responding.  What is the best way for me to give you a donation? Sent from Mail for Windows 10 From: Chris MitchellSent: Thursday, February 4, 2021 9:00 PMTo: boy1dr/3DWriterCc: freyed; AuthorSubject: Re: [boy1dr/3DWriter] Great program! I know that the question is probably outdated but if you really want to transfer your handwriting to the 3dwriter - i have a fork that lets you simply draw a symbol to convert it to the simplified font with bunch of lines. There are some problems I thing but I've already tested it out and it works good :)

@freyed Where you able to add your own handwriting? I‘d be really interested in this too!

The program is great, but I would really like to improve it. Please tell me if it is possible to add your own handwriting? I realized that this is not ttf but h- hershey fonts. I even tried to translate the handwriting through matrixFont myself, but without success. The project is very interesting, even ready to pay for its improvement!
