just to clarify my position here:
package | version |
---|---|
gavl | 2.0.0~svn6298 |
gmerlin-avdecoder | 2.0.0~svn6298 |
gmerlin-encoders | 2.0.0~svn6278 |
gmerlin | 2.0.0~svn6298 |
these appear to work together (at least, there are no bugreports indicating otherwise), but as you can see, it is still using a snapshot of the SVN repository.
Good point you are raising :)
Currently I have the following showstoppers:
Some occasional deadlocks in the GUI player, which are obviously difficult to fix. Do you know any tools for that? Helgrind floods my console with false positives.
Some smaller bugs in the HLS code, which can make watching TV a short pleasure. I just need some time and patience to fix these.
And, like always documentation and so on.
Gmerlin is for me, what a model railway is for others: It keeps e busy, I learn a lot, but it would get boring once it's finished :) On the other hand you are completely right, that the code should be released sooner or later. Actually I'm already concentrating on the showstoppers and don't work on new features.
Once a release is out, I'd like to focus on the gavftools. Would be a nice playground.
cool.
also: a release is not the end. consider it as a way to communicate to people that "these parts of the gmerlin project are known to somewhat work together."
i know, i know.
i haven't followed the recent development of gmerlin and friends (but I'm glad to see some activity), but...
as a Debian packager I would highly welcome it, if we could have more releases of the gmerlin suite (gmerlin, encoders, avdecoders, gavl,...), so:
what is holding back a new release? i know that there are always things to do and fix and update and improve..., but are there any showstoppers right now?
