The proposed change might make the spec a bit easier to read. However, I think Fig 9.1. (p. 109) is quite clear about that. After all, it clearly links the Collaboration with the "normal" MessageFlow.

While the issue correctly points to the fact that from the Collaboration section of the spec, one cannot infer that Message Events can have in/out Message flows, Table 7.4 Message Flow Connection Rules makes it very clear.

This yet another case of you need to read the complete spec to have a true understanding of BPMN.

I believe this does not affect Model Interchange and is therefore out of scope for MIWG and should be left to RTF to resolve.
