Sorry to hear that Brackets crashed. Do you have any details about what you did? Can you reproduce this?

I've had Brackets crash on me randomly too. I'll try to get more info, but I think it has something to do with switching branches in git or running a grunt task where you copy files from one directory to another. The code that handles the project menu might be hitting some kind of error when files are moved around outside of brackets.

Its totally random (but often), anyway i have same config on other computer (Win8.1) and it never crashed like that (it hangs and freeze but no app crash). Diffrence is in OS (Windows7). Maybe there are some logs so i can paste them here?

Each time it crashes, it's hard as in the screen goes blank except for the title bar and I have to use task manager to force brackets to close. All my current edit are lost :(

I'll try, it happened a bit ago, but when I go and take the same steps it doesn't happen. Do you think it could be a memory issue with copy and paste or how long Brackets is open?

I noticed with the debug window open i get this error each time i run grunt:

Unexpected error refreshing file tree for directory C:/SOURCECODE/project/web/client/build/assets/ NotFound /project/ProjectModel.js:1145

The project I'm working on deletes all the files in the build folder and copies new ones into it each time I run grunt build. I haven't been able to link these errors to the crash so it might be unrelated. If anything, these errors cause Brackets to run slowly while the process is running.

@FalloutPL@jasonsavage Can you please gather a crash log and post a link here so we can debug this further? Thanks!

I suspect you two are seeing two different issues, but there's no way to know for sure until we get details from the log.

Also, can you try Debug > Reload Without Extensions and see if the crash still happens after that?

Adding 'needs review' so we can revisit priority & assign a feature area later, once more info is available from crash logs.

I got a similar crash today. It happened when editing a javascript file. Here is the crash log.

I was going to type a quote mark("). Then Brackets froze for likely 1 second and the screen went blank.

@peterflynn I'm still working on getting a crash log. Brackets hasn't crashed in the last few days :). Also the project I'm working on has a lot of other problems that have been eating up all my time.

@peterflynn here it is: https://app.box.com/s/uo1m723cfld7p83lhgbs from procdump because brackets was frozen (must to kill by taskmanager)

@peterflynn Brackets has been pretty stable lately so I figured it was was an issue with one of the extensions I have installed (which it still might be), but, just now, Brackets crashed while I was commenting out a chuck of html code.

Here are links to what was in the '/CrashDumps/' folder and what I was able to pull with the procDump utility:
