I get this same issue on Windows 10 Professional
And after about 20 minutes, the indexing is still not done.

Same here on Linux (elementary OS Loki 64-bit)... Annoying as all hell.

Well, this is interesting. Tried this on Windows 10 - at first it was as you described. Then I went off the search and did it again, and it worked, highlighting the text searched for both in the text and on a line at the bottom. Restarting the program a few times, it still worked as said, both with Ctrl + Shift + F, and with Ctrl + F. If there's anything I can do to fix the bug for first, and someone can explain the work to be done, I'd be happy to.

I too have daily problems with the indexing. Often it never stops, it will index for hours. Even if it does not have any files to index, i.e. when I add "*" to the filter. Brackets is great but I absolutely hate the search, it is never working.
Maybe you can have it write out everything to the logs so I (and other people affected) can upload the log files so any bugs are easier to track down.

Brackets is great but files search is painfully slow. This is on Macbook 2011. Using Finder to bypass Brackets search which is MUCH MUCH faster. Great product, please fix SLOW file search. It used to be "instant"

i'm also experiencing this issue. there is little to no disk access during the supposed indexing and will remain indexing for quite some time.

This always worked well for me. I used the search project a lot.
For the last few weeks it's been impossible to use it. I'm not sure what happened. Maybe since I updated the macos on to 10.15.1

When I press Ctrl+Shift+F to search my project it indexes it for instant search, whichj is quite a slow preocess. It does this every day, it's like it does not save the index it built.
Steps to Reproduce
PRess Ctrl+Shift+F and enter some text
Expected behavior: Search results
Actual behavior: Sits there with "Indexing for instant Search"
