The wiki page now has a workaround for this: see "Re-enable HTML menus" in the Issues and Workarounds section.

I checked out a version today using the script for the Linux version. Everything works fine, except the menu bar does not appear and I have not found anything telling me how to make it appear.
The space where the screen shots show a menu bar is occupied by the project-relative path of the file I am working on.
I am running on Linux Mint 14, using the Cinnamon interface.
