Do I want to use new Canvas quizzes or classic Canvas quizzes? If new, then change throughout. See notes in the Wiki.
Lab warm-up
I know that I put a lot of work into moving lab warm-up slides over to R4Epi as part of the relevant chapters. However, I'm not sure that should stop me from continuing to use the lab warm-up slides (possibly modified) at the beginning of each class. Why?
I'm not sure that students do the readings anyway.
It's potentially a nice refresher (including for me).
It gives students an obvious chance to ask clarifying questions.
Do I want to use Poll Everywhere this semester or not? If so, use it throughout.
I think you should try continuing to use them in Fall 2024 and see how it goes. The biggest change I think you should make is trying to use poll everywhere instead of Socrative. Socrative isn't bad (in some ways it's better), but I don't like having to switch back and forth between PP, Socrative, and RStudio.
Is it possible to embed interactive code chunks in lab warm-up PowerPoints? Possibly with learnR or something?
Tasks
[ ] Don’t use Posit Cloud.
[ ] Convert all lab warm-ups to PP and Poll everywhere.
[ ] Lab warm-ups will be in Canvas only, not Word.
[ ] Labs will be in Canvas and qmd files, not Word.
[ ] Quizzes will be in Canvas and qmd files, not Word.
[ ] Labs and quizzes can/should ask questions that require students to recall information from previous modules. Libby was good about this.
[ ] Remove all of the "Overview" text blocks from the top of the labs and quizzes. In the Intro to R class, having the overview made sense because the entire lab/quiz followed a scenario. In this course, many of the questions are independent of each other. So, we end up saying things like, "this quiz will test your knowledge of measures of association." I think that is obvious and doesn't need to be said. If we do have some kind of setup, we can add it to the quiz instructions.
