Broken build? #70

There's something wrong with your latest FREEPSX UNIROM V3 1997 build for 5502, it loads into memcardrex differently than any other version and isn't working. Memory card manager just locks up. I've successfully booted Unirom without issue on several models on prior version.

Seems to only be the SLOT2 version

Slot 1 loads into memcardrex like all the others bar slot2 of the same version, but still not working on SCPH5502. Will try other BIOS revisions.

update: None are working, tried MCA on PS2, my original method before i made the memcarduino Needs memcarduino to format the card after corrupting it with FREEPSXBOOT, but then installing the same file renamed as 'MCR' extension isn't working.

Tried multiple BIOS revisions including the direct download link as oppose to the entire zip. Tried multiple genuine cards.

Can we get the latest UNIROM 8J build prebuilt with PSXBOOT?

Thanks for your report, but I have confirmed that both slot 1 and slot 2 builds work with a 5502.

Make sure that Memcardrex is configured to not try to fix corrupt memory cards (in preferences).

If it still doesn't work, could you read back the memory card after having written it and post the dump here?

That's really weird man, I actually saw that new version on shendo's blog lastnight and was going to try it out today... it's just really weird as I have memcardrex V1.8 and V1.9 from 2014, and I have previously written working freepsxboots for both Unirom and TonyHax for a 7502, I still have those 2 working cards. Anyways, just did a SLOT2 for 5502 on the April build of memcardrex. I guess I can use 8.0i to boot 8j boot disc in the interim. Thanks for you work man. I read your article. Really blew me away someone just came along that wasn't from 'the scene' and came up with this haha. Cheers again!

edit: just realised you can use the bootcd to write 8J to memcard with freepsxboot :)
