Please fix the nonsense, the obvious typos ("outut", "ouput"), answer the "why is there..." question, and I'll merge + rephrase the Frenchisms. Thanks!

Indeed, committing just before lunch without re-reading is a sure way to embarrassment. I fixed the obvious mistakes, applied your suggestions, and updated the commit. Thanks!
