Open jdkent opened 5 years ago

jdkent commented 4 years ago

here is a template for certificates

jdkent commented 4 years ago

furloughed to next year...

jdkent commented 4 years ago

This actually still may be relevant to encourage participation (no idea on how to make/distribute them though)

jdkent commented 4 years ago

@kerry-tarrant could you look into this one as well?

kerry-tarrant commented 4 years ago

@jdkent I wouldn't mind helping out with this. I am interested in looking into this. When would you suppose this would need to be taken care of? Maybe we can take care of this as soon as we have a list of all participating members of the event. I'm currently toying around a little bit trying to get my Overleaf account to pull from the repo.

kerry-tarrant commented 4 years ago

@jdkent I'm taking another look at the certificate. I attached a copy of the certificates that we might be handing out (names collected from Slack group). I think we will need to know about those participating and their institutions. Also, is "R. Cameron Craddock" the current chair of Brainhack? If you're unsure, I can look into this. Finally, it looks like we have an option to create ID cards, but I'm not sure if that is of any use for us.

brainhack_certificate.pdf

Edit: Just found this:

brainhack_certificate.tex will additionally need to modified to contain the name of the local event chair, and a PDF of their signature. Note that the current signature in the data/signature folder is a mock signature and does not and cannot be accounted for anyone's signature or endorsement. jdkent commented 4 years ago

@hjmjohnson, would you be able to submit a pdf of your signature to place on the certificates, so participants can have some recognition for their participation?

kerry-tarrant commented 4 years ago

@jdkent Hi James! Have you heard back from Hans?

jdkent commented 4 years ago

No I haven't, we can use my signature if necessary; it's just not very impressive to have some random graduate student saying yes you did this, lol. signature

@hjmjohnson would you be opposed to submitting your signature?

Here is the breakdown on how many would get certificates for different cutoffs: attended 4+ sessions: 10 attended 3+ sessions: 12 attended 2+ sessions: 14 attended 1+ sessions: 21

@brainhack-uiowa/brainhack-committee is there any preference for a cut-off?

Some people may have used the tutorial material but not gone to discussions, so we are missing them, while others may have stopped learning after one session, but there is no way to know.
