@fpcorso Mentioned creation of an empty zip.

joelworsham commented 9 years ago

I'm unable to replicate this. I tested the generator and received a correctly populated zip file. Can you tell me a little more about how to replicate?

fpcorso commented 9 years ago

Sure, let me go try again real quick and see if I can get a list of circumstances.

fpcorso commented 9 years ago

Alright, I tried again and still received empty zip. I was merely trying out the generator to see how it populated the basic plugin so I knew what to edit/alter as I built my extension.

Some background info: OS: Windows 7 Browser: Chrome Version 41.0.2258.2 canary

Field Answers: Your Name: Frank Corso Your Website: http://mylocalwebstop.com Your WordPress Username: fpcorso Plugin Name: Custom Footer Extension Plugin Description: This plugin allows users to customize the footer text. Plugin Tags: BLANK Location: Page: Webmaster Tab: Custom Footer Section: Custom Footer Do you want a settings tab for this extension?: Yes Settings Tab: Custom Footer Do you want to use custom menu items?: NOT CLICKED Do you want to use custom widgets?: NOT CLICKED

When I enter in this data, I get a zip "custom_footer_extension.zip" and it is completely empty. I hope this info helps.

Thanks Frank. Looking into this.

Testing with these exact fields, I received the following zip: https://copy.com/VrwTvHe8zsP8ox2X

I can't take any time at this moment to further look into this issue unfortunately. It's sort of on the back burner for the time being. I'm not sure why I received the plugin correctly and you did not... that is odd.

The major difference for us is that I'm not using canary, and canary is bleeding edge, which could contain bugs. I recommend trying a different browser first (though it's likely something else, it's worth trying).

If that doesn't work, well, I'm not sure at this moment. Sorry for the inconvenience! If nothing else, you use the zip I linked for a great starting point.

I just tried in Chrome Version 39.0.2171.95 and still received empty zip. No worries though, after my original attempt I had stumbled across the boilerplate repository and started playing with that instead. Thanks.

Hmmm, so odd. Again, sorry for the inconvenience, but yes, you can use the boilerplate repository. It's what the generator is built off of anyways.
