Copy/paste broken #19367

Description

When I try to copy/paste images to my blog, peakd.com, it will not let me. I spoke with the devs there and they sent me here.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Copy pic
  2. Paste pic with mouse and/or control v.
  3. Use a different front end to create a link.

Actual result:

Pic will not paste.

Expected result:

Paste the pic

Reproduces how often:

Constant.

Brave version (brave://version info)

@FreeBornAngel This needs a bit more detail in terms of what you're trying to do. Are you trying to upload an image to your blog? Copying and pasting what image and pasting where?

Yes, exactly. Trying to upload a copied pic to my blog.

It doesn't matter where I get the pic, it won't let me paste it into peakd.com. Other frontends for the blockchain work fine. Hive.blog is what I use to get around the issue. I prefer peakd because it has more features.

I asked peakd about it, and they said talk to brave.

This is still persisting. Screen caps will post, but not other copy/pasted pics.

The issue remains on my system: Version 1.42.95 Chromium: 104.0.5112.81 (Official Build) (64-bit)

I have also noticed this issue which was closed but it doesn't look like it was solved. https://community.brave.com/t/pasting-images-into-discord-is-broken-on-brave/365429

To put things simply, pasting images in Discord using Brave on Linux does not work at all, it pastes nothing. It does work on Windows.

I still have this issue, I can't copy and paste pics into peakd.com. I have to load any pics to hive.blog to get a link before I can upload pics to peakd.com.

@FreeBornAngel what OS are you on? If Linux which version are you using? (the snap, or our official package)

Some websites for sure will interfere with the clipboard... but you don't have an issue in Chrome?

Are you running any extensions? (please share if you're comfortable). You may try disabling those one at a time to see if this fixes the issue. Extensions are going to inject content scripts on each page which may interfere with things

I'm using linux mint. The clipboard broke with an update in Nov '21.

I have a privacy extension, https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/privacy-redirect/pmcmeagblkinmogikoikkdjiligflglb/related, but I don't think that is it as the timing is off.

I talked to the devs of the blog platform I am trying to paste pics to, but they said it was a change that brave made. See above.

That dev is still available, if you would like to talk with him I can put you in touch.

I am using Fedora. $ rpm -q brave-browser brave-browser-1.42.95-1.x86_64 However, as reporter said, this issue has been there for longer time, I don't know since when. I tried disbling extensions (u-Block Origin and NoScript), did not help. I tried using Fedora-packaged Chromium, copy-pasting works there.
