Description

Initial discussion in https://bravesoftware.slack.com/archives/CG7GV6M7Z/p1670597635627949

This appears to be triggered by the loading of images and videos, but that's just a guess.

There's a bright white flash and in some cases images get corrupted, but get "fixed" on reload.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Go to imgur.com
  2. Click on any post
  3. If the problem is not apparent yet, use the right arrow key a few times to trigger it on subsequent posts

Actual result:

White flashes and image corruption

Expected result:

No white flashes, no image corruption

Reproduces how often:

Easily reproduced

Switching to xf86-video-intel didn't help.

This is still an issue as of Brave Version 1.48.171 Chromium: 110.0.5481.177 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Operating System: Kubuntu 22.10 KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0 Qt Version: 5.15.6 Kernel Version: 5.19.0-35-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 16 × 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-11800H @ 2.30GHz Memory: 15,3 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® UHD Graphics Manufacturer: HP Product Name: HP ZBook Power 15.6 inch G8 Mobile Workstation PC

Maybe this has to do this nvidia gpu hardware acceleration?

FWIW, I'm not seeing the white flashes anymore, I think, but still see the corrupted images, although maybe a bit less, hard to say
