Description

Unwanted download/update behavior. Unable to turn off automatic updates Downloads updates behind the user's back

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install Brave Browser
  2. Brave Browser will attempt to auto update and download
  3. Inability to turn off auto updates from within the browser

Actual result:

Perpetual, daily events of checking for updates and downloading them without notifying the user or allowing the user to turn them off

Expected result:

Ability to disable auto updates from within the browser

Reproduces how often:

Easily reproduced, ongoing issue

Brave version (brave://version info)

All versions that I know of

Version/Channel Information:

I believe this happens in all channels

Miscellaneous Information:

Temporary fix: Uninstall Brave Browser Install Ungoogled Chromium

Ungoogled Chromium is Chrome based, privacy centric, and does not auto update behind the user's back
