Brave still does not load webpages on macOS Sonoma 14.1 #33962

Description

Opening the latest version of Brave still results in not loading any webpage. I had the issue already on Brave v1.59.120 on macOS 14.0 but after several trials with uninstalling and removing all traces and reinstalling I updated macOS to 14.1 to no avail in Brave and installing v1.59.124 (clean again) still results in not loading any webpage. But when oping a new tab, the default images of Brave are still loaded, but NO webpage is loaded. The weird about this is that the same Brave on macOS 14 on an M1 Macbook runs flawlessly.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Use a Macbook Pro INTEL (not M1/2/3)
  2. Install Brave fresh
  3. Load any webpage

Actual result:

Wheel keeps spinning and nothing is loaded.

Expected result:

Load the webpage.

Reproduces how often:

Always

Brave version (brave://version info)

Version 1.59.124 Chromium: 118.0.5993.117 (Official Build) (x86_64)

Other Additional Information:

Miscellaneous Information:

When I run Brave from a terminal I see this:

@freebrowser1 You're saying you're having this same issue with Chrome?

freebrowser1 commented 1 year ago

Yes. And also with VSCodium (the open source variant of MS VSCode). They are all Electron / Chromium based.

In the meantime I found out that when I set 'Auto proxy discovery' on in Network settings in 'System preferences', that appeared to be the reason sometimes. The past weeks Brave also worked again for a brief time but a few hours later on the network issue came back.

So probably that Electron / Chromium package has issues on macOS Sonoma 14 on Intel Macs.

But on the download page I read "macOS 10.14 and below are NOT supported anymore as per ...". I hope that this not means macOS 14 Sonoma (the same fourteen ?) not to be supported ?
