"Sign in as" prompt cannot be disabled #37145

Open Brave-Matt opened 6 months ago

Brave-Matt commented 6 months ago

Description

We inherited a Chromium feature that leverages the credential management API (I believe) that cannot be disabled. The pop-up occurs when there is saved credentials for a site you're on, even if those credentials are on separate profiles from the one currently in use.

Users should have the option to disable this feature. Note that disabling the Sign-in automatically option in Settings --> Autofill --> Passwords does not stop the prompt from appearing.

Reproduces how often:

Always

The second setting should be disabling this prompt. Just adding the screenshot here.

I don't even see this setting. It's annoying asf.

Please priorize this. I can't speak for others but this makes me switch to another browser because it's so annoying.

gessel commented 6 months ago

This is pretty close to intolerable. I assumed it was a site-driven "feature" but to find it is a browser "feature" is a bit disappointing. It isn't happening in Chromium, so the quick resolution is to use Chromium at least until this is fixed.

gessel commented 6 months ago

I thought it was fixed in 105, but I'm still seeing it on this install. Autofill is disabled and I'm not sure where there could be a config variation with chromium ...105, but that's not blocking mouse for the nag pop-up. Brave 1.64.116 Chromium: 123.0.6312.105 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Happening to me too! Please, don't force me to switch to Firefox.
