Freezes on Ozone platform X11 (when streaming video content) #37954

Description

When I launch Brave on my notebook using the default settings, I experience freezes in the browser as soon as I start playing a YouTube stream in another Brave session.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Start a YouTube video.
  2. Open a new Brave profile and browse the internet.
  3. Experience severe freezes lasting multiple seconds.
  4. Stop the video.
  5. The freezes stop.

Expected Behavior

I should be able to stream a YouTube video while continuing to work with Brave without any freezes or performance issues.

Brave Version (brave://version info)

1.65.123 Chromium: 124.0.6367.91 (Official Build) (64-bit) Ozone platform: X11

Operating System: Fedora 40 on Gnome / Wayland.

Additional Information

Notably, the issue is not reproducible when using the Ozone platform: Wayland.

Same behavior with 1.65.123 Chromium: 124.0.6367.91 (Official Build) (64-bit) on fedora 40 wayland, brave://gpu reports ozone platfrom to be x11, even though its set in brave://flags to wayland.
