macOS "Lookup" window doesn't close when scrolling the page #38792

Open Brave-Matt opened 1 month ago

Brave-Matt commented 1 month ago

Description

On macOS, selecting the Lookup option from the context menu when text is selected on the page, the pop-up window with a definition of the word will appear. However if you continue to scroll down the page, the content within the context menu disappears and only an artifact of the pop-up window is displayed. Further, this window will no close/disappear and persists across tabs until the browser is closed.

It is worth noting that I was able to reproduce this issue initially very quickly but after the first time I cannot seem to do so. User who reported is able to reproduce consistently.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Visit a site in Brave
  2. Highlight some text
  3. Scroll further down the page

Actual result

Window artifact appears and stays displayed on screen, even when switching tabs.

Expected result

Popup window should close when scrolling begins.

I get hit by this every so often, resulting in progressively more annoyance with Brave over time (originally I had falsely attributed it to be a bug with macos instead of brave, but in light of this Issue have redirected my annoyance this way )

My version: Version 1.66.115 Chromium: 125.0.6422.112 (Official Build) (arm64)

Thanks for making the Issue!
