Missing Open External Links in Private Tabs Mode #39562

Open issuant opened 1 week ago

issuant commented 1 week ago

Description

Although it is possible to open links in a private tab from a non-private custom tab/in-app browser page, there is still no option to set Brave to always open links in private/incognito tabs, a feature that Vanadium from GrapheneOS already has. Based on this exchange with Eich, this has also been a feature on iOS for over 2 years now yet it is missing on Android: https://twitter.com/jikkujose/status/1564689660542320640

25100 has been closed with a reference to another issue but that doesn't actually deal with this problem especially as it relates to (potentially data harvesting) apps opening links in your default browser that may already be running.
