Brave Translator is not available #39666

Description

When I use Brave Translator to try to translate a website that is in a different language than mine, it says it can't translate.

Steps to reproduce

Visit a website in a language different from yours
Click on the Brave Translator icon in the upper right corner to enable translation
Displays cant translate

Actual result

Unable to translate web pages properly

Expected result

Normal translation of web pages

Easily reproduced

Brave version (brave://version info)

1.67.123 Chromium: 126.0.6478.126

[X] with Brave Shields disabled

Miscellaneous information

Visiting translate.brave.com, the site used for translation, with the brave browser reports NET::ERR_SSL_PINNED_KEY_NOT_IN_CERT_CHAIN error

@HX-Technology-LLC Can you provide the languages you're trying to translate to and from as well a link to the page you're trying to translate.

I'm also having issues with the "Translate to English" right-click menu item not working.

I've tried it on this webpage (danbooru.donmai.us) and this webpage (www.pixiv.net). Here is an image of the relevant errors in the console for the first webpage and here is an image of the relevant error for the second webpage.

UPDATE:

As of 2024-07-14 1619UTC, I am also getting a 400 Bad Request HTTP error in addition to the previous 500 Internal Server errors. I have attached the relevant browser console log files to this comment.

@rebron I hope that the information I have provided in lieu of the OP is what you need to diagnose the issue with Brave Translate.

I'm also experiencing this issue and discovered:

when blocking fingerprinting is ON it disables Brave translation
to change: Shields - Block fingerprinting; or search fingerprinting in settings; or click the url searchbox shield then change as-desired
try any alternate non-default language to test, for example: https://www.costco.com.tw/ https://www.costco.com/ https://www.costco.com.mx/
Brave translate is noticeably slow

i suggest use TWP(https://github.com/FilipePS/Traduzir-paginas-web) to replace brave translate . It use Google Bing or deepl service to translate web page .It is faster to translate web page althought privacy may not be so good.
