Did you search for similar issues before submitting this one? Feature Request: Keep Navigation Bar and Tab bar same row. Presents bigger footprint of web page in small laptops like 13 inch screens

Describe the issue you encountered: I have really only one thing I would love dearly. Please keep both Tab bar and Navigation bar in same row, or switchable option.

  1. Pretty neat ad cool looks.
  2. Good minimalism
  3. More webpage foot print, Especially. A. Mobile B. Smaller screens etc.

*Hideable navigation bar , would be even more awesome.

Expected behavior: As in screenshot. Same row should have navigation bar

example brave tab bar and navigation bar

@kumzme Neat idea for a super condensed view.

Maybe we can do something like this once we are able to implement the next tab-view (a vertical list) which could fit as a popup in the URL bar.

CliqueBait commented 8 years ago

@bradleyrichter I didn't like this idea at first glance over concerns about the nav bar getting crowded but could be quite good with a drop-down of open tabs (which is what I think you mean by "a vertical list").

If that's how it'll be done then probably the bookmarks bar in the proposed "super condensed view" should also be condensed into a drop-down on the same row as nav bar and tabs list.

Hey guys .. is this sortta gonna work out for Brave !

if someone can guide me I can .. I am a programmer though on the backend side. I can attempt it

@kumzme I think this would need quite a bit of design thinking before it would make sense to invest a lot of coding time. One problem is that we need to support N number of extensions as well. Some users will want to see 5-10 extension buttons at a time as we support more in the future.

I think working on a tree-style tabs view that could later be added to the shared space of the URL bar might be useful?

kumzme commented 7 years ago

If i were to sort of think creatively, below could be simpler, when minimal tab mode selected,

  1. we can right align the tab bar and keep it as a single tab bar,

  2. make the tab bar sort of like a drop down.

  3. This gives lot of space to URL too

  4. [If possible provide option for tree style]

  5. [If possible we can also be able to click and search for a tab/tab history straight off the tabs]

  6. [ if possible on hower we can list all tab bars. ]

Then keep adding the extensions to the left of the tab

+1 from community as an option to move the bookmarks next to the address bar and have the address bar at the side. https://community.brave.com/t/movement-of-bookmark-bar/16220?u=eljuno
