This tool is really not well supported.  I fought with this tool for 4-5 days 
and while I did get it working it still wouldn't run from a cron script.  
Development ended on this tool in 2012 and there hasn't been a main line 
release since then.

Luckily somewhere in one of the issues there was a link to this tool 
https://code.google.com/p/sma-spot/

Which worked right out of the box.  No USB sniffing, no issues, it just worked.

To the developers of this tool.  
-This isn't designed to offend, but the other tool is way faster and isn't 
coded in one giant file so its much easier to understand and modify.  
-Also without a computer running XP I wasn't able to get the sniffing programs 
to even work.  I had to dual boot a system just to get XP and the codes.

-My thoughts.  If you are going to maintain this site then issues a bug fix 
release, update your documentation so that its current (window 7, recent 
linux).  If not just freeze this project and point people to the other site.

has worked perfectly for me for years. i have mine running under cron and on a 
wakeup event.  i have a 5000TL-20. its worked without fuss from ubuntu 9.4 to 
12.04.
