It seems like Windows might be the most restrictive, so we should just have constraints that ensure things work nicely with Windows, Mac, Nix, and HTTP

It would be worth it to spend a couple of hours doing a post on all the "micro" schemas we have in our Internet world, such as emails, DNS, http, file systems, et cetera. Also include the rules around some popular sites like Wikipedia and reddit.
