Markdown not working in development server #171

Exactly how is this not working? I can't see any issues

For example the paragraphs are not showing in the Description field for

http://27.32.153.207:8080/area/8040888

compare this to the prod server

History is working fine and if I modify it it's all good. I think this was like that in prod, go refreshed and then I updated the desc in prod which was why there where different.

I think there are two separate issues.

  1. What happened to the newlines in the Description in Upper Gara Gorge? They are there in the prod server but not in the development server. These newlines have been stripped out of the stored fields in the database. http://27.32.153.207:8080/area/8040888 This problem is not ubiquitous throughout the site and I cannot seem to reproduce a process that strips the newlines - maybe it was a temporary bug???
  2. Our implementation only partially conforms to the markdown we advertise from our site article: http://27.32.153.207:8080/article/updatingdescriptions http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Markdown
