Understand and fix units for a priori block motion constraints #47

Open brendanjmeade opened 2 years ago

brendanjmeade commented 2 years ago

10/19/2021 - An a priori rotation vector is recovered correctly, however the motion is not correct. This could be because:

  1. The conversion from Euler pole to rotation rate is incorrect.
  2. The Euler pole (rotation rate, latitude, and latitude) is specified in correctly in the block.csv file

Check Euler pole location and rotation rate values first.

McCaffrey et al. (2007) Juan de Fuca Euler pole (relative to North America) is (see table 2 in the paper):

longitude: 244.66 (degrees) latitude: 33.92 (degrees) rotation rate: -1.513 +/- 0.118 (degrees per million years)

These values are updated in TVDN_00448_reweighted_block.csv in commit: https://github.com/brendanjmeade/celeri/commit/e955ef8a450be61bbac25cc84c72f3d752132c4e
