nNot connected to internet? #29

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Using version 2, double click to start up and I get the initializing screen
then this error " OmegleSpyX has detected you are not connected to the
internet. In order to use OmegleSpyX you must have an active internet
connection. Please restart the program when you are connected to the internet."

My internet connection is just fine LOL.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit if that helps.

Any suggestions?

Well I found the cause.........ZoneAlarm internet security suit is blocking it,
I have added the jar file with full access and it still blocks it. The only way
I can run it is if I turn ZA off which probably is not too smart.

Any work around for this? as ZA does not recognize OmegleSpyX as an executable
file, I am assuming because it is a java file.

That error is only ever produced when the program cannot connect to the
internet. If you didn't get the error, the program would open and not run
correctly.(You need to unblock it).

If it works when you disabled ZA, then that is obviously the problem. You need
to give access to java.exe, not just the program file. See if that works.

I have 2 java.exe files, one in sytem32 folder and one in sywow64 folder and I
have added them both with full access through program control and still will
not run while ZA is running. I understand it is ZA and not the program, guess i
will have to hunt ZA forums for a solution - thanks :/

Hmmm, well I will try see if I can find a solution too. If you manage to get it
working, please post the solution as a comment here so that if anyone else has
a similar issue they can see how you solved it.

Thanks!

Ok so I just realized the java files in the system folders were the older ver.
of java so after looking I found that jre 7 installed in a seperate folder
under program files so naturally I added and allowed the java.exe file there as
well to ZA and still......not working.

I'm not familiar with the workings of java and this windows 7 64 bit machine is
new to me as well but I will continue my search and if I can find the fix to
make ZA happy i will surely post my results here :)

Does Omegle work? I mean, if you go onto http://quarks.omegle.com/, can you use
Omegle normally?

Yes omegle works fine when i visit. And omeglespyx works just fine as long as
my firewall is turned off. I have tried disabling literally everything in
ZoneAlarm to get it to allow omeglespyx to run to no avail. I have got java.exe
set to allowed on all options in ZoneAlarms programs control, but I had to add
the programs there manually.

Maybe time for a change up in firewalls LOL...I will continue to search the
problem - thanks for your suggestions thus far :)

So far I have come up with nothing, people @ ZA tell me that with the
privileges I have given the program and java, that there should be no problems
and since the problem still exist it is more than likely because I am having to
use JRE 7 which is beta and not a final release. They suggested that I share
the problem with Oracle......I will do that when I get the time :)

Hmmmph. Well, I don't use ZA. I don't see any way to get around it other than
using a different AV. I find it hard to believe that JRE 7 is the problem
considering the large number of applications that use it. Every other AV I have
encountered has no problem with it.

I'm going to mark the thread as fixed, but if you do found a way around the
problem (while still using ZA) feel free to post it here.

Thanks again.

Okay. So I've compiled a version of OmegleSpyX on JRE 6 (update 31) instead of
7. Let me know if it works. Check the downloads page.

Works like a charm now my friend :) Thank you for making this happen and just
to save others from any further problems like I had, if you had installed JRE 7
like I had along side JRE 6 you will have to uninstall both versions than
reinstall JRE 6 to get this one to work. Not sure if it is setup specific but I
am running Windows 7 64-bit and that is the steps I had to go through to get it
to work.

Thanks again!

Hmmm that's odd. I have both JRE 6 and 7 installed and am running it fine. xD
In fact, I'm fairly sure you shouldn't actually need JRE 6 - if you have JRE 7
it should run.

Oh well, I'm glad it works properly now. xD Enjoy.

I know, I know LOL - I dug into this pretty darn deep and the only thing I can
conclude is that it is ZoneAlarm causing the problems. I could not find any
reason what so ever to believe that JRE 7 was at fault. I am not a rocket
science that is for sure so any faults could have been my own but I just could
not get it to work while ZA was running and it still would not work until I
literally uninstalled both versions of java and reinstalled JRE 6.

But it works now so I am not touching it now lol. The computer I am on now is
running xp here at my restaurant so I'm gonna try it all over again with JRE 7
and see how it goes. This is the same setup as far as security software goes
only the OS version is different, home computer is running 7 64-bit.

Ok here are the results and bear in mind that the Zonealarm on this xp is the
freeware as where the one on my W7 64-bit is the paid internet suit so that
could possibly be a factor as well but here is what I did.

Machin Windows xp sp3 with JRE 6 installed:

Installed version 2.o.3b of Omeglespyx = ran as expected.

Installed version 2.0 (same version I had problems with on W7 comp = did not
run, again as expected.

Installed JRE 7 alongside all ready installed JRE 6 and tried to run version
2.0 = ran just fine.

So either it is ZA or windows 7 (or my configuration of it) that caused the
original issue, when I get time I will uninstall ZA (paid) from my W7 machine
and install the free version and do another test to see if I can narrow it down
to ZA as well as run it past ZA tech, but from my previous experience they did
not seem to care one way or another at least until JRE 7 is out of beta LOL
