Focus on rollup window #468

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
I'd like the rollup window to have focus when I return to my computer so I can
just hit Escape to dismiss it. I'm keyboard-centric and this always trips me up.

Of course, this could be an option in Prefs, but I'm not sure it needs to be.

One possible treatment for this would be to treat the rollup window like an app
that I can cmd-tab from/to, and give it – as an app – focus when it
'opens' while I'm away.

This isn't something that we're going to do. A preference for this would be
required, which means that it isn't going in.

We have a new shortcut key combo for opening/closing the rollup window that'll
be in 1.4. That's all that is really necessary here.

Thanks! If 1.4 doesn't solve the problem for you let us know, but I'm pretty
sure that it will.

I don't understand why this just isn't done by default. In my opinion this
changes the rollup from annoying and interfering to something useful that I can
dismiss at a glance. I hate how the rollup if in the foreground but not
accepting input when I have been away for a few minutes or two and trying
unlock my screen to get going. Ticking off the vote with a extra hard click. :)

If you had read the comment I made beforehand, we have a better solution
already ready to go in 1.4.

If you click hard enough, you'll break your computer. I'd suggest clicking
normally from now on. And reading the whole ticket.

Changing status to merge into ticket #323. If this doesn't resolve the issue in
1.4, file a new ticket and detail exactly why it does not resolve this issue
for you. But try it for a week first please.
