I think @rmpruzek's "vanishing plot" problem may be an artifact of pressing Return too quickly during the demo. Bob, try re-running the demo and waiting an extra long time before pressing Return. Especially for the .contr, which sometimes needs to draw four plots at a time, ggplot2 can take awhile.
My solution worked for @rmpruzek
what in hell IS @rmpruzek... seems like twitter (which I've never visited).

For the run w/ granovagg.contr
the first page of panel plots is shown, then immediately vanishes. This leaves only the second of the two pages in quartz. rat is in granova.
