Note: I am motivated to add the pool float sensor to due to a failed irrigation solenoid. After I replaced it I started to wonder it failed failed due to the pool filler stopping the flow of water. So, I decided to add a remote sensor to proactively shut off that “irrigation” zone.

This project stalled due to sensors not working with the controller being installed behind the pool fence.

I have since learned that I2C sensors don't work over long wire runs. I will have to rethink if I can safely relocate the control board much closer to the pool, only running power over distance.
