Getting the ball rolling #1

So this is my initial work on the app... unsure as to if anyone else has started any work on this but cannot find anything in public repos.

This pull request includes a lot of changes, however many more will likely come... such is development.

Thanks @fuzzyfox. I merged this, and will now make you a core contributor to this project so that you can check in directly from now on. Because we are early stages, no reviews are needed yet.
