Up to 10% speed increase with GPU straps modifying GTX1070 #221

If anyone need up to 10% speed increase, here is a way to do it. Do it at your own risk, I will not be responsible for any damage it can cause!

I have GTX 1070 from EVGA. Was able to reach 120 Mkey/s with 22.5 millions addresses input file with next settings -t 512 -p 512 -b 64. 120 Mkey/s in not the limit and you can reach more, continue reading. I have some mining experience and I know about GPU straps modifying. But, as far as I know, there are no "ethlargementpill" for GTX 1070. Nevertheless, Claymore miner 15 can modify straps on GTX 1070. Steps to run claymore miner with straps modifying:

  1. Download Claymore miner 15
  2. Extract miner, go to EthDcrMiner64.exe file properties and set "Run as administrator" check box
  3. Run start.bat file with next params: EthDcrMiner64.exe -strap 2 -benchmark 110
  4. Wait till miner show some not 0 M/H per sec.
  5. If you have one GPU as me - press 0 (zero) two times when miner window is active, it will disable mining on GPU 0, but straps will still be applied to the GPU!
  6. Run Bitcrack with your settings.

After straps modifying I have 136-145 Mkey/s when searching 22 490 497 addresses from file. I have uses -strap 2 as for my GPU with micron memory is suits best. With -strap 1 I have almost similar result, but with -strap 3 I had artefacts.

Have you tried it with address of know key range to see if the key will be found or skipped?
