Make Brief work on Firefox for Android #75

installer no accepted with firefox android 29 or 30

If I try to install it on firefox android, there is a warning not compatible for this verison of firefox.

Could you allow brief on android ?

Brief does not work on Android at the moment. For Brief to work, AFAIK, we'll need to port all XUL pages in the UI to HTML and to make it a restarless addon. It is certainly possible, but a serious amount of work.

:+1: I understand this is a fair amount of work. OTOH, a great deal of people (most?) use commuting and waiting time to catch up with the world on their mobiles, so it would certainly be not a "small enhancement" but rather a "full renewed relevance of the add on"! :)

Is there any chance to revive this issue now? The UI is displayed properly, but the "Subscribe" page action does not show and the "options" button does not click, hence there is no way to add feeds.

Status update: Brief is a pure WebExtension, so the basics should work. Not sure whether any APIs Brief needs are missing on Android. The UI probably needs lots of work to make sense on Android.

Firefox for Android is going to be replaced by a new implementation (Fenix) in 2020, so targeting the old one is not reasonable. At the moment Fenix has extremely limited addon support, however.
