Discussion is making me think maybe Gutenberg is not the most appropriate editor for skin deep.
It is trying to solve a page building problem, not a blogging problem. Most of Skin Deep's content is bloggy, rather than pagey. Then add on top of that the early-release bugs (in both Gutenberg and interacting plugins like ACF).
It could be that Gutenberg is used like how it is now, just for landing pages made up of blocks of widgets. All other pages use the classic editor.
This would mean that the vision validation in acf.js will need to be ported for the classic editor.
I think this is worry testing with site editors to see what they prefer
Discussion on hacker news talks about using a WAF for security. Like wordfence.
This could be worth investigating.
