My experience is that having EVC_ENABLED=true will actually crash the EVC (at least the network interface aka "dongle").
No idea what "secure modbus" would look like. Any chance giv_tcp can do this?
FYI: when they say GivEVC, they mean giv_tcp with EVC enabled
